Limits are for Pushing

For those wanting to buy a good budget laptop, the Dell Inspiron series of laptops has always been a safe option. With the introduction of the series 7000, two years ago, the Inspiron label ascended to premium heights. The new Inspiron version is a subset meant primarily for gaming, and so is based on the most up-to-date Intel Skylake platform. Presently, Dell Inspiron 15 7559 has some competition such as MSI GE62 6QD, which carries almost the same price tag.

Dell Inspiron 15 7559 is an excellent premium multimedia gaming machine with a fine set of speakers, remarkable UHD display, and solid components for your every multimedia need. You can play most heavy games on it as long as you refrain from playing at its native resolution.

Our Score:
• Excellent UHD display
• Fine overall performance
• Speakers loud & clear
• Expensive
• Lack of optical drive
• Bulky
• Battery life not good

Dell Inspiron 15 7559 Design and Features

Basically, Dell Inspiron 15 7559 follows the design of the earlier Inspiron 7000 series, although the aluminum has been replaced by a plastic cabinet, sporting a rubber finish. With its red motif surrounding the trackpad, exhaust vents, logo on the lid, and speakers, it has a striking, aggressive and stealthy look.  With its 2.72 kg weight and almost 17mm width, this latest Inspiron machine is rather hard to lug around.

The wide trackpad is placed off-centre and so won’t impede your typing. It is not very responsive while playing games, and to play games you do need a mouse alright.  The backlit chiclet type keys are placed on a full-sized keyboard. The keys have fine tactile response and typing can be great as there is no flex while typing.

The Inspiron 15 7559’s high-end version boasts of a 15.6” UHD 2160×3840 backlit LED touchscreen, making for excellent color reproduction and brightness. However, the display remains glossy and the ensuing reflections might be a nuisance to you.

As to connectivity this model comes with two USB 3.0 ports and one USB 2.0, SD card slot, a headphones/microphone, HDMI, Ethernet port and HDMI. Since a gaming machine can get heated up quickly, the 7559 sports three exhaust vents as well as a couple of cooling fans to keep the laptop cool. Its battery remains non-removable. As to notification lights, there is only a single solitary LED at the front.

Talking about audio, the Inspiron 15 7559 comes with 2.1 speakers, stereo satellites speakers and a sub-woofer fitted to the bottom. These deliver excellent sound that is not ninny or hollow, helped on by the bundled software Maxx Audio Pro and the unique equalizer presets.

The Inspiron 15 7559 is a powerful enough to be classified as a gaming laptop. With its quad core Intel Core i7-6700HQ, processor incorporating Hyper-Threading technology with a clock speed of 2.6GHz as well as a 3.5GHz maximum turbo frequency, it is a powerful gaming device.

Other features include 16GB RAM, 5400rpm Seagate hard drive, Samsung M.2 SSD of 128GB, and a Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M boasting of  4GB GDDR5 memory. Apart from these core specifications, this Inspiron model also comes with a dual-band Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, HD webcam, Bluetooth 4.0, an, as well as 6-cell 74WHr battery.
