By  |

Affordable Hybrid Laptop

The HP Pavilion x2 10t is a good choice for those who are looking for an inexpensive laptop that can be used at home or on a journey. It can also be an efficient media tablet, for doing things like websurfing, doing shopping or checking social media. However it lacks in one thing, that of a basic typing machine, due to the undersized keyboard it comes with.

Summary

HP Pavilion x2 10t remains a sturdily created 2-in-1 that has good looks, fine battery life and is meant for people who are looking for a smaller 10” laptop/tablet. This highly affordable 2-in-1 boasts of three colors, a sturdy plastic body, an incredible 9 hours in Battery life, and equipped with the well-known Bang & Olufsen speakers. However, this hybrid device is unable to function as a base typing machine, due to its keyboard being somewhat undersized. Judging by its overall performance, the Pavilion x2 10t is a device that can exceed its weight class, in performance.

Our Score:

• Fine performance
• Light and compact
• Sturdy build quality
Cons
• Puny keys
• A toasty rear
• Some added bloatware

HP Pavilion x2 10t Design and Features

The HP Pavilion x2 10t sports a clean white color, and enclosed in a strong plastic body. However, in case you are not satisfied with the matte white finish, you can opt for a conventional silver or sunset red, by paying an additional $10. The device’s controls are placed at the top right corner such as buttons for power, Windows, and the volume rocker. In the laptop mode, the whole thing weighs 2.62 lbs and measures 10.39” x 6.81” x 0.78”.

The Pavilion x2 can be changed from a laptop to a convenient tablet, by gripping the display, holding its keyboard in place, and just lifting away. The resistance is just right, of the magnets that hold together the two halves together. Besides, stability is aided by the addition of two tabs, that slot smoothly into grooves on both sides of this tablet. This imparts stability to it, and prevents any rattle or wobble that is the bane of many budget 2-in-1s.

Keyboard & Touchpad

HP has to skimp on the size of the keys to accommodate the keyboard on the minuscule lower half of the machine. At 3.75” x 1.75”, the touchpad is lacking in height, although it has sufficient width.

Display

The Pavilion x2 10t comes with a 1280 x 800, 10.1” touch screen that boasts of wide viewing angles, but has average looks as compared to budget competition. This means that its color range is mediocre, so that you cannot enjoy a movie due to the colors not being crisp or bright enough.

Audio

The Pavilion x2 10t is equipped with the high-end Bang & Olufsen stereo speakers, although it is a budget hybrid device.  These speakers face the front, which makes the sound being targeted at the face of the person holding it, rather than a settee or desk, making for an enjoyable listening experience.

Verdict

HP Pavilion x2 10t remains a sturdily created 2-in-1 that has good looks, fine battery life and is meant for people who are looking for a smaller 10” laptop/tablet. This highly affordable 2-in-1 boasts of three colors, a sturdy plastic body, an incredible 9 hours in Battery life, and equipped with the well-known Bang & Olufsen speakers.
